An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in custom built laboratories within the Environmental Sciences Group of Smithers ERS. Based in Harrogate we are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant within the established Ecotoxicology Team.

The role is varied in nature and includes general housekeeping and cleaning, culturing and maintenance of organisms, routine maintenance of equipment and laboratory supplies. The successful candidate will work as part of a team and be mainly lab based. Previous Experience is not essential as full training will be given.

The role is 35 hours per week 8:15am to 5:00pm Tuesday to Thursday, 8:15am to 4:30pm Friday, and 9:00 till 12:30 on Saturday. Please note, we would expect a Monday to Friday shift initially while training is given before moving to the contracted hours.

Qualifications and Experience

Required minimum qualifications are relevant A-level or equivalent in a related scientific subject.

Interested applicants should have excellent IT skills, be well-organised, enthusiastic and demonstrate a hands-on approach to work with an ability to use their initiative and apply knowledge. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are essential.
